The purpose of this class is to teach the very basic, fundamental steps of cutting, sewing and piecing for creating accurate quilt blocks.

The class will be $35 for each student and will include fabric (1 yard/4 fat quarters) for the 9 patch block and thread to match the fabric, which will give them some extra to practice at home after class. The class usually lasts between 4-5 hours and covers all the items below.

·        Cutting

·        Piecing

·        Pressing

·        Rulers

·        Rotary Cutters

·        Mats

·        Thread and thread weights

·        Seam allowance – ¼” and scant ¼”

·        Sewing machine feet

·        Sewing machine needles

·        Sewing machine speed

·        Bobbins and bobbin winding

·        Irons

·        Heat settings

·        Steam

·        Starch and Sizing

·        Ironing/pressing

·        Pins and pinning

Here are the supplies that the ladies need to bring to class:

·        Sewing machine in good working order.  Your machine should have a new needle and be in good working order.  Ladies should know how to use their machine and be familiar with basic troubleshooting if there is an issue.

·       Small cutting mat and rotary cutter. I will provide cutting mats for us to share, but if you have a small cutting mat (18x24 or smaller) please bring it with you.

·       Ruler.  You will need a 6 ½” x 24 ½” quilting ruler.  

·        Small snips or scissors. Sewing or embroidery scissors will work.
